Not legal advice. Trim the Fee is a software tool, not a law firm. Use of this site does not create an attorney-client relationship. Our reports and letters are informational, based on publicly available standards and our own data.
Your responsibilities. You are responsible for the accuracy of the invoices and matter information you upload and for how you use the deliverables we provide.
Plans and credits. All plans are one-time purchases. The Pre-hire estimate and Single invoice review each include one (1) review credit. The 6-month plan includes twelve (12) review credits, valid for 183 days from the date of purchase. The 12-month plan includes thirty (30) review credits, valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. Unused credits expire at the end of the plan term and are non-transferable. There is no recurring billing and nothing to cancel — once your plan term ends or your credits are used, you simply purchase again if you want more.
Money-back guarantee. If, after using Trim the Fee, you are not able to obtain a reduction from your attorney that is greater than what you paid us, we will refund the difference. If you are not able to obtain any reduction at all, you get a full refund. To claim the guarantee, email admin@trimthefee.com with a copy of the original invoice you reviewed and the final invoice you paid your attorney. We honor this guarantee in good faith; it is the prevailing refund policy and overrides anything contrary elsewhere on this site.
Limitation of liability. Trim the Fee provides its service “as is.” We make no guarantee that any specific reduction will be granted by your attorney or any court or fee-dispute panel. Aside from the money-back guarantee above, our maximum liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us.
Anonymized data contribution. By default, the invoices and matter details you upload contribute to our anonymized, aggregated benchmarking dataset, which we use to keep our research and review accuracy current. We never publish, sell, or share identifying information about you, your matter, your attorney, or any specific firm. Aggregated outputs reference only general patterns — never named parties, named firms, named matters, or counts of comparables. If you would prefer that your uploads not contribute to this dataset, email admin@trimthefee.com with the subject line “Dataset opt-out request” from the email address on your account, and we will remove your account from future contributions. Opt-out is processed by our team rather than as a self-serve toggle so that we can confirm your identity and apply the change uniformly across your matters.
