Summary. Your invoices and matter details are used to run your review and, by default, to improve our anonymized benchmarking dataset. We don’t sell your data. We don’t share identifying information with third parties. Uploads are encrypted in transit and at rest. You can ask us to exclude your account from the benchmarking dataset at any time by emailing support — details below.
What we collect. Account info (email, name if provided), invoices and matter details you upload, usage telemetry to keep the service running.
How we use it. To generate your review report and reduction letter. To improve the accuracy of our benchmarking data, in anonymized and aggregated form only. To respond to support requests. To comply with legal obligations.
Anonymized data contribution. By default, the invoices and matter details you upload contribute to our anonymized, aggregated benchmarking dataset. We use this dataset internally to keep our research and review accuracy current. Aggregated outputs reference only general patterns — we never publish, sell, or share identifying information about you, your matter, your attorney, or any specific firm, and we never count comparables or identify firms in our deliverables.
How to opt out. If you would prefer that your uploads not contribute to the benchmarking dataset, email admin@trimthefee.com with the subject line “Dataset opt-out request” from the email address on your account. We will confirm receipt, remove your account from future contributions, and apply the change uniformly across all of your matters. We process opt-outs by hand rather than as a self-serve toggle so we can confirm your identity and avoid accidental changes.
Your rights. You can request a copy of your data, removal from the benchmarking dataset, or full account deletion at any time by emailing admin@trimthefee.com.
